Do you remember when your favorite sitcom would have “a very special episode?”

In the 80’s it would be very common for family oriented sitcoms to take a break from the usual lighthearted comedy to feature a more serious topic. These episodes would prompt families to discuss the dangers of drugs, gangs or other mature topics. These “very special episodes” eventually devolved into campy ratings plays, but the idea that you could discuss serious topics in a fun environment was proven.

On November 13th, we are taking a break from our usual schedule of fun and educational events to talk about something that has the potential to affect all of us, and the generations that come after. That is the importance of our community giving back to the local community here in Singapore and throughout the region.

We have organized an incredible panel of speakers for this event and hope you will join us as we discuss the importance of serving the local community and some ways that we can go about it.

Eli William Lenyoun

Eli William Lenyoun founded Family Wealth Solutions Pte Ltd in 2008. He is also co-founder of Sunshine Daughters Limited, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering deserving women in Sri Lanka to bring about transformative and sustainable social impact.

Eli provides consultation to social enterprises and business-focused families based in Asia. He leverages 38 years of financial and wealth planning experience to achieve end-to-end family wealth protection and preservation, having assisted in structuring assets with value in excess of US$ 10 billion. He has lived in USA, Cayman Islands, Latin America, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, and throughout Asia while working with global financial firms and wealthy families.

Eli received his law degree from Stanford Law School (1977), is a retired USA CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and advisor to The John Fawcett Foundation (Australia and Indonesia).

Crystal Hayling

Crystal Hayling, principal of C2 Projects, consults with businesses, nonprofits, social enterprises and foundations to make philanthropic investments that are strategic and impactful. Her expertise covers topics including women, youth development, elder care, health care, nonprofit management, social innovation and technology-for-good. She has worked with Temasek Trust and helped Fortune 500 companies develop their Asia philanthropy strategy.

Prior to moving to Singapore in 2010, Crystal was President and CEO of Blue Shield of California Foundation where she oversaw the distribution of more than $100 million in grants. Crystal has held leadership positions at the California Wellness Foundation, a $1+B trust, and the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, a philanthropic arm of the family that founded Levi’s.

Here in Singapore, she is a trustee of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation, Asia Venture Philanthropy Network, and the Singapore American School. She is also a trustee of the Center for Effective Philanthropy (Boston), an organization that provides comparative performance data for large foundations. She has served as an advisor to the Wikimedia Foundation and the Berkeley Laurence Hall of Science.

She is a graduate of Yale University and Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute.

Amy Duffuor

Amy Duffuor works at Impact Investment Exchange Asia (IIX), which is the home of Asia’s first private and public platforms for Social Enterprises to raise capital efficiently. She supports the Business Development team at IIX and is responsible for program strategy, client engagement / partnerships and Impact Accelerator – a platform that connects early-stage Social Enterprises with mentorship and seed funding.

Prior to IIX, Amy worked at State of Flux, a London-based management consulting firm. At State of Flux, she was primarily responsible for FTSE 100 client engagements in the financial services, FMCG and healthcare sectors; and project managing the consultancy’s annual research report. From 2013-2014, Amy was contracted to Barclays Investment Bank in Singapore as an Assistant Vice President of Legal Services. At Barclays, Amy independently managed 11+ sourcing projects to drive operational efficiencies and cost reductions across the global business.

Amy holds a BA in Urban Studies (with a specialization in Political Science) from Columbia University and an MPhil in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford. Her research on West African migrants has been published in edited volumes and academic journals.
